Why waste money on arts and creativity?

Firstly, I must apologise for my word choice in the title! The term 'waste' was a complete wrong choice of words.

If you have ever considered the arts to be a waste on money, or a waste of time, then take a moment and think about how many pieces of art, music, performances, designed work you have come into contact with today...

I can wait...

See! There is an abundant of artsy things that you come into contact with each and every day. Each piece providing you with inspiration and input into reflecting the person you were, and the person you wish to be.

Community Objectives is here to celebrate, inspire and develop communities through the use of creativity. We completely value that Art and Creativity can have an influence on our progression as people and communities. If you have seen our website you may have noticed a quote from Margaret Mead, she said:

"Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it's the only thing that ever has".

This is such a prominent statement in the work we do, and so it should be. Communities have such power to change the 'world' for so many people and we should feel empowered to do so.

This year, Arts Council England (ACE) have announces their new strategy; Lets Create 2020-2030.

It's like a breath of fresh air for the community arts sector and applied arts and theatre too. You can view it here. The new strategy suggests that ACE will be focusing on how communities use arts and cultural activities to reflect on their own experiences and creating creative communities.

With this change coming into place, we see this as a huge benifit for our organisation and to the sustainability to our future but better yet, we see this as a better future for your community, and our community. OUR CREATIVE COMMUNITY!

So, really, the purpose of this post is to say that we are super excited for the future and everything it holds, not just for creativity but also for the community sector. Aren't you excited to?

Take a look at the new ACE strategy, see what you think. If you're not of the Artsy type, just remember that each day, that list of things you created at the beginning of this blog was part fo your day today, so what about tomorrow? Maybe it was funded by ACE and maybe you could be that little more in the know about it.

Sayonara.
